Beit Gazo

Notre partenariat avec la Bibliothèque nationale de France continue! Cette année encore, le Centre Beit Gazo a pu proposer une formation de 10 jours en conservation-restauration de papier et de livres/manuscrits aux professionnels libanais, du 25 septembre au 6 octobre 2023. Nous étions une nouvelle fois ravis et honorés de pouvoir mettre en place cette formation avec vous.

Our partnership with the Bibliothèque nationale de France goes on! Once again this year, the Beit Gazo Center was able to offer a 10-day training course in paper and book/manuscript conservation-restoration to Lebanese professionals, from September 25 to October 6, 2023. Once again, we were delighted and honored to be able to set up this training program with you.

Au programme en restauration d’arts graphiques : théorie de la couleur, teinture par triangulation, les différentes techniques de teinture du papier japonais (aquarelle, acrylique, teinture dans la masse à la Pergasol), comblement par pâte à papier teintée sur table aspirante, doublage, mise en tension. Pour la partie reliure: les différentes coutures courantes et historiques en reliure, les techniques de restauration des coutures, réalisation d’onglets piqués et d’une reliure japonaise, réalisation de Suminagashi pour les plats.

La formation a également été ponctuée d’interventions théoriques réalisées par des restaurateurs extérieurs et par nos formateurs.

Graphic arts restoration program: color theory, triangulation dyeing, various Japanese paper dyeing techniques (watercolor, acrylic, Pergasol solution dyeing), filling with dyed paper pulp on a suction table, laying, tensioning.

For the bookbinding section programm: various common and historical sewings in bookbinding, techniques for restoring sewing, making stitched tabs and a Japanese binding, making Suminagashi for the boards.

The course was also punctuated by theoretical presentations by external restorers and our trainers.
